Ahmed Jaan was attending the tribal gathering when the attack took place sustained serious injuries to his legs and upper torso, and still cannot walk or stand properly. He insists that there were no ‘militants’ present in the meeting. The attack took place just days after the release of Ray Davis – the undercover CIA operative responsible the shooting and killing of two Pakistanis in Lahore. There had been a hiatus in drone attacks as the American’s negotiated the release of Ray Davis with the Pakistanis. The US and Pakistani officials claimed that Taliban commanders were present in the jirga and that it killed the senior Taliban commander Sharabat Khan.
